A hilarious mystery from the Intergalactic Investigation Bureau!
Two robotic deaths and a grouping of terrorist attacks have just happened on the biggest incorporated entity in the galactic empire.
As large as a massive city, the corporate flotilla crawls through space ever-searching for more customers to add to its bottom line. But with the recent turn of events, the very existence of the station and all of its inhabitants are at risk of losing everything.
The #1 suspect? A new robotic religiosity that calls itself Starliner.
Prime Adam Dresker and the crew of the IIB - the investigative branch that handles all major security concerns - must figure out who is behind the attacks and stop them before it's too late.
Many questions arise for Dresker and his crew as they fall into their investigation. Who done it? Why are they doing it? Are they going to keep doing it? Is the president of the CCOP actually happy that they're doing it?
And the most pressing question of them all Have robots seriously found religion?
Starliner The Intergalactic Investigation Bureau Book 1 (Audible Audio Edition) John P Logsdon Christopher P Young Jus Sargeant Crimson Myth Press Books
What a fun read! We've got an old-fashioned hard-nosed detective with a crew of alien investigators trying to find out what's going on with all the bots--excuse me, mechanicals--on the CCOP station. So many questions... Can mechanicals get religion? Will the Starliner be their salvation? Do you prefer the iPane from Fruit or the VizScreen from NeglibileSoft? Will investigator Truhbel ever find a man that she can love without inflicting serious injury? Will Zimp escape from the Leader? Most--but not all--will be answered (the author doesn't say so, but we all know the VizScreen is better!!).Mr. Logsdon. Thanks for such a fun read, but you need to get back to work so that we can find out what's going on with Reknep. It's been missing for 50 years!

Starliner The Intergalactic Investigation Bureau Book 1 (Audible Audio Edition) John P Logsdon Christopher P Young Jus Sargeant Crimson Myth Press Books Reviews
This book was provided through Goodreads as a freebie by the author in exchange for an honest review. I must say, this was one of the most enjoyable books I've read in a long time. While the plot is essentially a murder mystery in an S-F context, the descriptions of all the human/humanoid, robotic ("Mechanicians) and alien races requires a lot of notes and re-reading (Thank God for 's "find" and "highlight" features!). OK, so here we go
So the "victims" of the murders are both Mechanicains (a robotic race which has developed from the "robot" class ruled by, yup, Asimov's "three Laws of Robotics from "I, Robot." Nice homage). One is seemingly accosted, chewed up and spit out by a trash machine ("Crush Bot"). The other is a seeming suicide in which a Mechanician who has been fired and is quite despondent (yup, they have emotions) allegedly throws himself into the gears of the main engines that run the City. They are allegedly seduced by Telion, a female "sensual bot" whose function is obvious. Relatedly, the Mechanicians have reportedly developed a "religion" centered in a floating building named "Starliner," which somehow offers them "salvation." This is in rebellion against the races of the CCOP (the Conglomerated Conglomeration of Planets), a huge interspatial company whose aim is to bring planets together mostly for economic gain, with the help of the subservient Mechanicians.
The "Police/Security Department" is the IRB (Internal Research Bureau). Adam Dresker, its head, spearheads the investigation, along with his deskmate Bintoo, a Ghephtian (a race which is organized, efficient, orderly). He also works with Truhbel, an Unkar (intelligent, but not open to other races, and thus comes across as rude) and Lemoolie, a female Unkar, the financial officer. The watering hole they frequent is called the Battery, which along with conventional libations also offers sort of an electronic "jolt" for the mechanicians. The bartender, Clink, prefers to refer to himself as a "Robot," because the term "mechanician" is too snooty. All of these characters will figure importantly in the investigation.
This, folks, is just the tip of the iceberg. Many more races are involved and interacting in a relaxed manner (just envision the bar on Tatooine from "Star Wars"). There is also an underlying level of humor that makes one laugh out loud, or perhaps just chuckle; I refer to the "Twin-Moons of Hardenton" (you'll have to read it for yourself, too funny to spoil). The author appears to have spent considerable time developing this complex society and I found the experience of reading this novel very enjoyable. Highly recommended. Five stars.
Fun read like this authors style of humor and writing.have read all his books. Great read!!!!!
I am really looking forward to more books in the Intergalactic Investigation Bureau series.
JPL @ CPY have written of an advanced society that launches a spacecraft into deep space with the assigned tasks of research and research alone. This is an excellent read for the genre.....ER
It was a close call between 4 and 5 stars, but what the heck. I thoroughly enjoyed this tale which was sort of a Futurama type story complete with robots that could have sprang from the cartoon. I kept waiting for Bender to appear.
This is an excellent read. I am a fan of science fiction as well as a fan of mysteries. In this book, I got both. The characters were unique and likable. I want to read more about these characters and the book provides an excellent lead in to the hopefully soon to arrive next book.
Having read & thoroughly enjoyed the other books by these authors I expected to enjoy this one also which I did. The book is a light, fun romp the characters were great. The robot characters reminded me of those in many Ron Goulart books I read. I hope they produce another book very soon.
