I watch my grain intake when I’m being calorie conscious--I suppose that’s most of the time. These are wonderful recipes no matter what! And for no matter who, too. These recipes will mind your grain (and calorie!) intake in creative ways.

Since the weather is cooling off where I live, I’ll be preparing soups all the time. Because it looked too good to be true, I’ve already tried corn chowder recipe. It is as quick as it is easy. Next time when I’m really rushed or very hungry, I’m going to try it with well-drained canned corn. Of course, fall is a good time for any dish with pumpkin. The Creamy Vegetable Soup and Carrot and Pumpkin Soup will be high on my list to try.

Before I forget, let me mention the creativity of Carrot Noodles with Stir Fry Vegetables. This is a mind-bending way to forgo those regular starchy albeit real noodles. This dish is so tasty, you won’t feel like you’re giving up a thing. Wash it down with a Cucumber Smoothie.

If you’re looking for a quick and easy way to eat grain free, this bright and breezy cookbook should be in the Kindle reader of your choice!

Surprisingly Simple Grains Free Recipes for Lazy People 50 Simple Gluten Free Recipes Even Your Lazy Ass Can Cook (Audible Audio Edition) Philip Pablo Don Colasurd Jr Chong Teck Chuan Books Reviews

This is the third book of Recipes for Lazy People I’ve purchased. The recipes were still simple although a bit less easy because they’re mostly main course. Every recipe was gluten free so a plus for people on diet and you can choose from over 50 recipes. Honestly, I’m not really on a diet but I’ve been trying out recipes in this book and so far I’ve been liking the whole gluten free idea. One thing I think the author could have added is a substitute ingredient like, if let’s say avocado is not available what can I use instead. Other than that, I found this book a healthy way to start eating.
This book put me off a bit with the subtitle stating " Lazy ass" . I know they were pulling for some humor and get people drawn to it but normally that would not bring me to a book. I recently found out in the past year that I had a gluten sensitivity and it makes sense for what I have eaten in the past that made me sick. This book has a lot of wonderful recipes that I am going to try. Mr. Philip Pablo is a professional chef with unique recipes (as read in the back of the book) and an editor of a food magazine. For being an editor, there was no real organization to this book. I enjoyed how on the app you can go to the table of contents and it automatically links you to the actual recipe. The problem is that the recipes are not in any kind of organized pattern. If I just wanted a chicken recipe I would have to look through the entire table of contents to find all the chicken recipes instead of maybe clicking one link that brings me to that section. I found Chicken with Shrimp and then Soup items. I think the organization could be a bit more structured.

The photographer is not credited on here and whoever they are ; are very talented. These photographs made me hungry just looking at them. There was a bunch of photos missing in the book though. Some of these recipes I would like a better idea as to what I am going to make or how it should turn out. I actually googled a couple of the recipes and hit " image " search and got a variety of different ways it can be prepared.

Also, It should be noted that recipes can be changed and modified for allergies. ( There is actually a note/ marks in the app and on kindle for you to make notes yourself. It is actually a wonderful tool and one I use often.) There is a lot of recipes with mushrooms such as the Slow Cooker Roasted Vegetables and at least 1/4 of the recipes contain some kind of nut. I know people ( myself-mushrooms!) that can't eat certain foods. Maybe there can be a few different suggestions of what to use in place of those items (to help people who can't push their "lazy ass" mind to think of what else can be used. Yes, I am still having a bit of trouble processing that part of the book.)

There is something I would like to know , the book mentions in a few recipes " corns ". What is corns? Some other ingredients are also not explained as well and it would help some of us to more thoroughly understand (especially newbie cooks!) what certain items are. The other problem is some of these ingredients ( like the gluten free soy sauce) should have recommendations. If you want to really be grain free , a gluten free soy sauce would not be Kikoman, for example because of its' possible 20% ingredients. I think that would be a good thing to have in the book.

The recipes are delightfully named like " Yummy Vegetable Rice " or " Delicious Asparagus Soup " . There is certainly a variety for everyone in here and I recommend purchasing it since it is fairly inexpensive of a book and it does have a lot of great ideas for those , like myself, who are trying to find alternatives. ( I did not know that zucchini could be made into noodles!)

I will be trying out a few of these next week!
Gluten free and grains free is the way to get healthy. But sadly the foods can be bland and boring. It also can be difficult to find easy, everyday meals that everyone will like.

Pablo has given us a cookbook that is chock-full of wonderful, delicious recipes. I really like the exceptional way he lists the directions that are so easy to make that even a beginning cook will be a pro in no time. I really enjoyed the introduction to each recipe that is just a simple quote but it seems to sum up how great the food tastes. The photography is amazing leaving the reader hungry to begin cooking but was disappointed that there weren’t pictures with every recipe. All the recipes are so good it’s hard to pick a favorite but to narrow it down it would have to be the beef with vegis and onion or the chicken steak. I was also disappointed that the recipes weren’t categorized they seemed to be random in the cookbook. I would have preferred all meals together, all snacks, etc also an index would have been helpful too. So for these two disappointments I can’t give five stars for the cookbook overall, but for the recipes they are clearly ten stars!
